Azure, Stone Valley, and Lampson Falls… Oh My
Last weekend I scheduled Thursday and Friday off to seize on the forecasted good weather, and give my new camera a good run. Thursday was an unexpectedly long outing to Azure Mountain. For reasons I can only laugh about now, my expected 2-3 hour jaunt around Azure turned into 7.5 hours after the terrain completely changed between my ingress and several attempted egresses, courtesy of an extended thaw that sent torrents of water off the mountain. Fun, snowy, wet, muddy, sun-drenched times.
Friday was a much simpler trip to Stone Valley and Lampson Falls, accompanied by my mom. The water levels at both were far above that which I’d ever seen before, allowing for some great shots of serious whitewater.

Drew and I have always ended up at Stone Valley later in the season, but if the weather holds we may go tomorrow morning just to see the river at full. Thanks for the idea!
