Catchup

I promised myself I’d blog more about life, and I haven’t.

The Shower @ Haystack- I turned 30 on May 1st, and spent the day on Haystack, as I frequently do. I actually brought my tripod up to take some panoramas. They didn’t turn out as I hoped, so they’re not there. Great day, though. Man I love that mountain. It’s perfect for a day trip. Perfect.

- Mother’s Day was spent at Bog River Flow, Castle Rock, and Buttermilk Falls.

- Took an abbreviated vacation to CT and RI in the beginning of June. Went to Block Island which was supercool.

- Dad’s Day was back to the Blue Mountain Lake area, and a trip to the Adirondack Museum. I’m still super-proud of an amazing butterfly pic I took while there.

- This past weekend (4th of July) I went to Toronto to visit the Zoo and the Royal Ontario Museum which had a return of the dinos, and a really great Darwin exhibit. Great shot of a tiger, and a couple postcard-grade shots of the CN Tower/Skydome from Lake Ontario.

Two Nine

1978 + 30 = 2008.. that’s next year, so must be I’m 29 this year. Blame the maths if I’m wrong.

Breakfast at Eben’s this morning was nice. Quiet. Calm.

Went to Stone Valley and did the circuit. My camera is old and dying, and is sucking batteries like a Hoover, so only the first 1/3 of the circuit has pictures. The last picture was not supposed to be, but was snapped while dropping a few feet after swearing because the batter light was flashing “already”: One quick slip away from a raging river of doom. I had to rest for about 30 minutes after that.

Ran into a couple turkeys, of all things, on the last part of the first half. I can’t say I’ve ever seen wild turkeys that close before- especially in the woods. Squirrels, chipmunks, lots of woodpeckers, partridge (I think), and a very busy beaver were all to be seen. Some biketards met the unintimidated hiker that is me: They swore, I don’t care. Right-of-way on a trail is given, never taken: however most people are afraid of a collision, so they jump off the trail, giving the biketards the delusion that they “have” the right-of-way.

Great day. Mostly calm. Mostly quiet. Mostly serene. Everything Zen.
