To Restore a Policied Win98 Computer
- Boot in safe mode (to get access to regedit)
- Set the HKEY_LocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update\UpdateMode
key to 0.
- Delete any other keys in HKEY_LocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update\.
- Go into the Users Control Panel and delete the user.
- Reboot the computer.
