Caribbean Vacation - 12.14.2002 - 12.21.2002
Great vacation aboard the Celebrity Constellation from San Juan with stops on St. Croix, St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, and St. Thomas. Most pictures taken with my C-2100 camera, some underwater shots were taken with my old (now my Dad's) D-450, and the ones with the [incorrect] datestamp were taken with a Samsung D200. Over 1/3 of the pictures taken were weeded out and not displayed here.
Saturday - Heading for San Juan, Puerto Rico
Drama, as an apparent drug bust went down. The small lear jet (you see its rear) was racing down the runway, chased by a phalanx of police cars, then two helicopters landed in front of it to make it stop.
Sunday - Fredriksted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands
Underwater sequence from Buck Island National Park while snorkeling. Quality sucks as the waves prevented steady shooting. Most of them have been filtered out. All pics with the D-450

Monday - Castries, St. Lucia
Soufriere is French for "Sulfur in the air". It's named this because a) it has a black-sand beach because of b) it has a semi-active volcano that generates heaps of sulfur ash and smells about as foul as one could imagine. This series is of that volcano (which you can, literally, drive into)
Then there is the rain forest and botanical gardens inland a bit (not smelly)

Next three are left/center/right pictures to be stitched into a panorama sometime, maybe, if I'm not lazy.
Took a wonderful "eco-tour" which consisted of kayaking around a mangrove-lined bay, hiking up Bird Island and snorkeling around the reef next to it. It was the clearest water, schools of parrot fish, blue tangs, and squid, along with a moray eel, baracuda, lots of coral and angel fish and others.
In this series, there is a bird. It's a white-tailed, red-billed white bird.
