Boot Screen - An auto-logoff mechanism for Windows 95,98 and NT

Current version 1.0 Build 6

NOTE: Microsoft appears to have liked the idea and wrote their own. Mine's way older.

Installation:

If you use the installer, "Boot Screen.scr" is copied into your "Windows or Winnt" folder. This allows you to go to the Display Control Panel, select it as a screen saver, and set the idle time. *DON'T HIT PREVIEW OR YOU WILL GET KNOCKED OUT OF WINDOWS!* There is also a ".exe" version that is installed whereever you put it ("c:\program files\boot screen" by default). This is an unfortunate side effect of the packaging software I use. *sigh* You can run it with the "/s" switch to get it to boot the current user off.

What Happens:

A system call is made to "log off" the current user. All programs that are running are sent the standard Windows "End" signal, which allows them to exit gracefully (IOW: Allows programs to prompt the user to save changes, etc.), and then logs the user off.

Bug Notes:

1.0 Build 3 Bug - There was an "error" in Build 3 that caused a terminal, infinite loop if the screen saver activated while the computer was already logged off. *giggle* Whoops. Build 4 fixes it.

**USE AT YOUR OWN RISK**
