For Gnome users who want to keep an audio-visual tab on what's happening with their Nagios monitoring system, Nagios Applet is available. It's written in Perl, and requires some pretty heavy modules.

Windows users will want Nagios_Tray.

Current release version is 3.2.

  • Dependencies:
    • Gnome2
    • Perl 5.6+
      • Perl: Gtk2
      • Perl: Gnome2
      • Perl: Gtk2::TrayIcon
      • Perl: Gnome2::Sound
      • Perl: Glib
      • Perl: LWP::UserAgent (Part of libwww)
      • Perl: IO::Socket::SSL (if you want HTTPS)

nagios_applet is best installed in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin

The contents of the pixmaps folder should go in /usr/share/pixmaps/tac_applet/

The default sounds come with the Gaim package

The 'festival' package needs to be installed to do text-to-speech "reading" of alerts.

Consider the code public domain.
